UnboxEd turns what people know into experiences other people can understand.
Why we exist
Most of what people need to learn is already written down, recorded or held by an expert. But reading isn't learning, and a good course takes weeks of an expert's time to design. So most knowledge never becomes a learning experience at all.
UnboxEd does the reading, the planning and the first draft, so the people who teach can spend their time on the parts that need a person, and learners get more than one way into every idea.
What we believe
- Retrieval beats re-reading. Answering a question fixes an idea in memory far better than reading it again.
- Spacing beats cramming. Returning to an idea as it starts to fade makes it last.
- Doing beats watching. Moving a slider teaches cause and effect better than a paragraph about it.
- Language is part of understanding. Learners should meet ideas in the language they think in.
- Hints before answers. A tutor that gives the answer away takes the learning with it.
